Male Marijuana Plants - what's the difference?

When growing marijuana you need to know the difference between male plants and female plants. All plants look the same during germination and vegetation stage. You can only differentiate about 2 weeks after flowering. Male plants will show 2 balls growing on the stalk, female plants will show pistils soon after. The balls on the male plant open up to pollinate the pistils on the female plants. Once pollinated, the female plant will produce seeds.

If you want to grow marijuana to smoke bud you don't want your male plants to fertilize the female plants. All the resin goodness that is found in good bud is resin that would have been used for seed production.

Male plants should be removed from the grow room as soon as their sex is recognized. They should also be destroyed outside of the home. You don't any pollen to be released from the male plants when growing sensimilla (seedless female weed).

How to recognize a male plant after flowering.

	Male plants will show their sex before female plants. Usually 2 weeks or less after flowering has been induced.
	Male plants grow taller. So if you have 2 plants out of 30 that are 4-8 inches taller than the rest of the plants just before flowering starts, pay close attention to the stalk after flowering because chances are it's a male plant.
