Australian Opium Poppy Seeds are in strong demand as many Aussies grow their own. The Tasmanian poppy industry already provides the world with 50% of the worlds legal poppy for opiod production. Eyes are set to expand grow operations to Northern Territory and Victoria becasue the conditions to grow opium poppy in Australia are very good.
As an Australian I can say that it is illegal to grow opium poppies here, without a license. Therefore, you will not find any garden or hardware store selling these seeds. It is purely a black market of seeds that are from the pharmaceutical company farm in Tasmania. Victoria is now growing them because there is a fungus affecting the Tassie crops. Supply and demand problem for producing real pain relief for cancer suffers etc. Sending these overseas is a criminal offence, but it’s obviously happening. We have strict quarantine laws about these seeds, and drug laws tie in with growing them as domestic product.
